Space Bag

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Space Bag line of products are reusable vacuum-seal storage packs (plastic bag) produced by Illinois Tool Works. The Space Bag is often promoted on infomercials to store, protect and compress bulky items through vacuum sealing.

The line has expanded to now include totes and hanging bags.

Their website claims that they will triple your storage space. Also Space Bags offer superior protection against bugs, dust, mildew and odors as well as being air and watertight.

[edit] History

The Space Bag was originally produced by New West Products (founder/CEO: Gerald Sweeney), Inc. in 1993. In November 2002, New West Products was acquired by Illinois Tool Works.

[edit] Criticism

Many customers have complained that after about 3 days the seal on the bag will break and the vacuum lost. Others blame this phenomenon on the "patented, airtight Sure-Zip zipper" that is used to seal the bags and claim that if they seal the bags by hand the vacuum remains for years. [1]
