Spa Novices' Hurdle

The Spa Novices' Hurdle is a Grade 1 National Hunt hurdle race in the United Kingdom for four-year-old and above novices. It is run over a distance of 3 miles (4,828 metres) on the New Course at Cheltenham Racecourse during the Cheltenham Festival in March. There are twelve hurdles to be jumped in the race.
It was first run in 2005 as a new race when the Cheltenham Festival was increased from a three-day to a four-day meeting. It was initially sponsored by Brit Insurance and run as the Brit Insurance Novices' Hurdle until changing to the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle in 2008. The race was first run with Grade 1 status in 2008 having been previously contested at Grade 2 level.
