- 1963: - NASA announces the cancellation of four planned Apollo missions using the Saturn I rocket.
- 1968: - Soyuz 3 lands, with cosmonaut Georgi Beregovoi aboard, returns to Earth.
- 1981: - Venera 13 is launched to Venus by a Proton rocket.
- 1985: - Space Shuttle Challenger launches on its final successful mission, STS-61-A, with eight astronauts aboard (a record for the largest crew of a single spacecraft, which stands to this day.)
- 2002: - Soyuz TMA-1 launches to the ISS, with three cosmonauts aboard. First flight of the TMA-class Soyuz spacecraft.
