- 1958 - A Juno-I rocket launches Explorer 1, America's first satellite.
- 1969 - A Vostok rocket fails to launch a Meteor weather satellite, due to an upper stage malfunction.
- 1973 - A Voskhod rocket launches a Zenit-2M spy satellite.
- 1985 - A Kosmos-3M launches a Parus navigation satellite.
- 1986 - A Long March 3 launches the STTW-1 communication satellite.
- 1986 - A Molniya-M launches an Oko missile defence satellite.
- 1987 - A Tsyklon-2 launches a RORSAT technology demonstration satellite.
- 1990 - The crew of Mir perform an EVA to test new equipment.
- 1992 - Space Shuttle Discovery begins its first ODMP refit.
