The Sowerby and Luff Show is a weekly podcast hosted by writers and presenters Georgina Sowerby and Brian Luff. Georgina and Brian's previous series, "The Big Squeeze," became one of the most downloaded radio shows on the iTunes podcast "Comedy 365"[citation needed], and built an audience of over three million downloads during its first 18 months of syndication[citation needed]. Big Squeeze was also one of the first UK podcasts to get per-download sponsorship from a US company, as well as mobile phone distribution. The Sowerby and Luff show features different sections. The current sections are:
- What's the Question Triv - The classic Sowerby and Luff game where Georgina and Brian try to guess the question from the answers of a children's Trivial Pursuit game
- Scissors, Paper, Anti-Aircraft Gun (as created by Logan Predy) - A variation of Scissors, Paper, Stone where, instead of Stone, Georgina and Brian each say a different item and it is decided which item would defeat which.
- What the Fuckā½ - A game where Georgina thinks of a completely random item (physical or not) and Brian must guess what it is. Previous items have been "The angle at which the Tower of Pisa leans at" and "Yvette Fielding's guilt at perpetrating the shameful hoax that is Most Haunted".
- Name That Bird - A game where Georgina tries to guess what species of bird is making the catchcry which Brian plays. Georgina guessed the bird on week 15 in episode 14 of "The Sowerby & Luff Show." It was a Plover, obviously!
- Name That Bug - A game where Georgina tries to guess what species of bug is making the sound which Brian plays. Georgina guessed the first bug in episode 15 of "The Sowerby & Luff Show," which was a red winged grasshopper, and then the second bug in episode 28 of "The Sowerby & Luff Show," which was a tree cricket.
- Sowerby and Luff's Fully Automated Social Media Network - The segment in which Georgina and Brian read out listener e-mails. It is the successor to Folding the corner over and Sowerby and Luff's In Crowd, from the previous shows hosted by Sowerby and Luff, The Big Squeeze and The Big Big Squeeze.
- Chemical Heaven (now Shaken Not Stirred) - A segment in which listeners suggest cocktail recipes for Brian and Georgina to mix and drink (in one go) on the podcast.
- Celebrity's Russian Roulette - This segment is where they name 6 celebrities and you have to guess which one of them are dead. You then email the answer to them and they pick a winner from the UK which wins a bottle of vodka and a winner from anywhere else and they win a T-Shirt!
- Words that are nice to say - Georgina and Brian say a word, usually sent in by a listener, and repeat it.
- Official Phrase That Is Overused - Georgina and Brian have a word they think is officially overused and say it and then repeat it.
- Sowerby & Luff's Mind Game - The two games they alternate doing are *What The F**k & *What's The Question Triv.. Those two games are explained above!
- People We Like & People We Don't Like - They name a person they like and a person they don't like and discuss why they like and dislike those people. Sometimes they even give examples of why they like or dislike that person as well.
- Are You Happy Now? - Georgina and Brian talk about something that they did for one another and ask each other "Are you happy now?" Then they say yes or no and explain why.
On May 31st, 2007, Sowerby and Luff broadcast the show from the Kalashnikov Club. The show was sponsored by Kalashnikov Vodka, and the theme song for The Sowerby and Luff Show has changed from Curiosity Shop's 'Dreams Of Piccadilly', to The Kremlinaires, 'Miska'.
Brian Luff is a former comedy producer for Channel 4, and Georgina Sowerby has worked as an account manager at Saatchi & Saatchi. For four years, the pair also produced a weekly comedy show on the London fringe called Sketch Club.
Recently, there has been discussion about the Interrobang. A petition was started by Julian Farmer to introduce this to the keyboard, which Georgina fully supports (link to follow soon).
