[edit] Listing References

Greetings, I have been busy over the past 4 months studying up on the Southern Party and the overall Confederate Sovereignty Movement and have during the process managed to compile a huge treasure trove of references to support this article and make it better.

In addition to making this article better I plan on adding to its over all size by making this a parent article to a series of "spin off" articles which will cover both the existing and dissolved State Parties of the Southern Party.

For example, the Southern Party is not defunct as many have hinted to on Wikipedia, the party remains heavily active in the two States of Georgia and North Carolina, which managed to survive the dissolution of the SNC. In addition to these 2 remnant parties, the Southern Party has seen a recent resurgence in its regional power, with the reforming of a Southern Party State Chapter in Mississippi, Florida and the formation of a South West Chapter which encompasses the States of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and two states that were not considered part of the Confederacy back in 1999 Arizona and New Mexico, but due to historical break throughs have been proven to have been contested areas that supported a rather large pro-Confederate opposition government and military force. In fact in Arizona, which was only a territory at the time was considered a State by the Confederacy, and showcased 3 very bloody battles for its State Capitol.

In closing I plan on using my gained knowledge and research data to add references to this existing article. However once all of the references have been added, I will begin to publish separate articles about the State Chapters, both former and current, site references for those, then last but not least update this parent article to include a Political Party Infobox, and updated sections showcasing the parties actions from when this article was written and left alone in 2003 to today.

This article is outdated and is in dire need of an over haul, so please no deletions or corrections just to be turd, if you hate Confederates, which many do, then this is not the place to take out your frustration and show your ignorance.

If you feel a change I made is out of line, bias or otherwise incorrect then please respond in this talk forum like an adult. The reason I have addressed the disputes in this manor is that I have seen personally some really nasty behavior when people try to correct or improve Confederate articles on Wikipedia, this is supposed to be a neutral zone and lets keep it that way. If you find it hard to suppress your hatred for Confederates and insist on demonizing them then please do it elsewhere, this is not the place for it.

What sources are you using for this? I don't see any citations.

Just curious what have I edited or added thus far that I have not listed a citation for; not being rude just curious? Also thanks for the feedback and interaction :)

I'm not sure what you've added and what was here before. But the article has only a handful of citations. Let's review section by section
  • History = 1 (which references a small amount of material)
  • First logo = 0
  • Break with the League of the South = 0
  • Launch = 1 (which references only a single sentence)
  • Secession ploy = 0
  • Factionism = 0
  • Dissolution = 0
  • Reunion = 0
  • Cause = 0
  • Today = 3 (which reference only a few sentnces)
The assertions that aren't sourced are currently unverifiable. Do you think that there are sources available for the unsourced material?

I will begin citing as much as I can, I have added all of the current resources, and plan on connecting as many of the dots as possible. Give me a month and this article should be a lot more well structured and supported by facts.

Great. Thanks for your work. ·:· Will Beback ·:· 19:16, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Southern Party State Chapter Links

I have just updated the Southern Party article to reflect the current status of the Southern Party. Prior to my update the article only mentioned that the Southern Party had 2 existing State Parties in Georgia and North Carolina, which is incorrect.

Since about 2007 the Southern Party has seen a resurgence in its effort to repair the damage caused by the dissolution of the Southern National Committee in 2003. For example, Southern Party State Chapters have reformed in Florida, Mississippi and the previous un-held South Western States of Arizona and New Mexico. There is also a movement trying to reform the Southern Party of Texas but is under pressure from the dominant Republic of Texas movement to just assimilate their remnant into their organization.

The Party is growing and is trying to reestablish it self in the Deep South (Florida, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Louisiana, and Mississippi), and from there hopefully reestablish itself in the Upper South, Central South, and the South West.

Correction, the Southern Party of the Southwest does not include any other State but Arizona and New Mexico. I was confused by their website somewhat, I have corrected this and listed that the South West Party only includes Arizona and New Mexico.

Update, the Southern Party of the Southwest appears to be a ghost site, the last time it was updated was 2006 and I have not had any success in contacting any members from that Chapter. I have also heard from the Southern Party of Florida that they have not been able to contact them either, thus I will remove them as an active Southern Party State Chapter.

[edit] Southern Party Contact Table

I'm currently in the process of adding a contact table to this article so that I can continue to work towards my commitment of bringing this article up to date with the other political party articles on Wikipedia.

Currently the article only sports a singular embedded image of the old Southern Party logo, which I plan to replace with a new contact table which would incorporate the current old logo along with some new basic information on the party that I will gather from the current article and the Southern Party State Chapter Websites.

As with anything, if you feel that I'm publishing incorrect data about the Party please don't delete it, instead try to address it here on the discussion page.

Update, I plan on listing the unofficial political color of the Southern Party as gray. My basis for this assumptive addition is due to the strong iconic association between the color gray and Confederates; even Wikipedia makes note of this in the Wiki article on the color gray. Also for the record the current Southern Party State Chapters have officially listed gray as their official political color, so this addition I feel should be okay as long as its stated that its the unofficial political color of the old Southern Party.

Update, I have added the contact table to the article, the only problem is that I had to quickly whip up a summary header for the article so that the page flowed smoothly. The summary is fact based and to the point, I feel it is some of the best 2 minute writing I have done in my life.

[edit] Southern Party Logo

With the addition of a contact table the need for an imbeded graphic image for the logo is no longer necessary. However despite being obsolete I feel that the description of the logo is of some educational value and its because of this I feel the need to add a section covering the original logo of the Southern Party. This new logo section will be placed at the top in the of the HISTORY section and will be the first sub section, however if you feel it should be higher or placed elsewhere please let me know.
