[edit] NPOV and COI

I tagged this article as NPOV and COI, as the article is obviously maintained by someone named Siupress. This article needs some serious cleaning, or will most likely face an AfD. Tool2Die4 (talk) 19:28, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I don't understand the problem? --Siupress (talk) 19:55, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

There are several. First and most obvious, you just copied and pasted the content here from the page hosted at SIU.edu. Second, you have an obvious conflict of interest in contributing to this article. Finally, this article in no way, shape, or form adheres to a neutral point of view. This article has been nominated for deletion due to these reasons. It's beyond salvageable. Tool2Die4 (talk) 19:59, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay I guess I am missing the point of Wikipedia? I thought it was to inform about the organization. The Southern Illinois University Press is a non profit organization. Please untag my article.--Siupress (talk) 20:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Agreed that you are missing the point of Wikipedia. Perhaps you should start at the beginning. And calling articles "yours" and taking ownership of them isn't thought highly of around here. The tags stay, and hopefully the article will be deleted quickly. Tool2Die4 (talk) 20:09, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

Please look at the article again and consider un-tagging it. What excatly needs changed as it stands now? --Siupress (talk) 20:13, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

According to the Wikipedia FAQ page. You are suppose to make some suggestions as to how one can improve the article. Be active and bold in improving the article. At this time you have failed to do so? I don't understand why you want the article deleted so bad? --Siupress (talk) 20:41, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

I suggest going back to the one-line article that was there before Siupress got started. Then work on expanding the article with facts: founding year, any subjects they tend to focus on, etc. Direct copying from SIU Press's site is not allowed. (An aside: the method to my madness in creating as many university press articles as possible a while back was to allow live links from Wikipedia references to books published by these presses. One could follow the link to the press's page, then go to the press's web site to follow up on the source book/journal itself if they so desired.) I find no reason to delete the article (a university publisher is notable even if small), but the article needs work. A2Kafir (talk) 21:05, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Notices

I have warned Siupress (talk ยท contribs) on their talk page about our WP:COI policy and asked them to reconsider whether their edits are appropriate. I have also reported the same as a violation of our username policy. --Dhartung | Talk 06:53, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
