[edit] South Indian Rice

In South India, it seemed to me that the rice was different from that of other parts of the country. Especially it was different from the fragrant "basmati" types that are favored in the north. I thought it was starchier with a bit of earthiness.

There is some mention of a "Ponni" rice, but no Wikipedia article that really describes this. So I hope someone much more knowledgeable than I will discuss rice varieties in South Indian Cuisine. LADave (talk) 12:44, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
