Talk:Sound Factory (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I posted this because this is an important band in Italy and member Julie P. co-wrote the song "Quelli che ben pensano" by Frankie_Hi-NRG_MC, it is in her biography, #3 in charts in 1997 and received as best song in 1997 the Music Italian Award (PIM). The album she produced, La Morte dei Miracoli in 1997 published by BMG sold til now like more than 400,000 copies. She is one of the old school hip hop producer and well respected and known musician/singer in the soul/jazz italian ambient and also collaborated with Mike Stern, the jazz guitarist.

Also the band is important and soon will play live also with Mike Stern. Plus if the band wouldn't be important that great musician wouldn't have recorded 4 tunes with them.

Sorry but well the band is important and soon will play live also with Mike Stern. Plus if the band wouldn't be important that great musician wouldn't have recorded 4 tunes with them.

Also they are on battle of the band's website, there is link and allaboutjazz.com is another good reference. There is a link there too. So here they are 2 reliable sources.

Band members biography's don't show how the band is notable? What has the "band" done to satisfy WP:MUSIC? Wasn't this deleted before as Sound Factory Band? A page currently protected and only to be edited by admins? Sting_au Talk 12:14, 1 January 2008 (UTC)
Copy vio still applies. The website you have copied (substantial copy) has not shown a release on their site. It still says "all rights reserved". This article should be a speedy delete for blatant copyright violation. Get the website to show the release license ON their website. No need to reply on my talk page as I'm watching this page here. Evidently you didn't check my article well. at the end in the LICENSING section there are links to permission documents they placed on their website:

Contents

[edit] Licensing

  • Permission is granted from the band to copy, distribute and/or modify this document.

There's still a copyright symbol but I'm willing to give it a go. I'll remove the speedy and see how the article progresses (still needs work in my opinion). The beauty of wikipedia is that lots of different editors get to work on the articles. In time you may see a vastly different page to the one you have created. Good luck with your band and remember to add any info (awards etc) that comes up. Cheers, Sting_au Talk 12:42, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

Thanx. I know and I hope other users will contribute! :)

It is not my band though. I am a person who love their fantastic music... there are many!

(crossposted from my talk page, as I was contacted regarding the copyvio versions):

  • Thank you for providing proof of the release. Trust me, this release information was not present when the article was previously assessed and determined to be a copyright violation. I see you have created the article at another location; if you wish, you may move the article (using the "move" feature at the top of the page) to Sound Factory (band), which has been unprotected. This probably should be done anyway because this would be the appropriate title per Wikipedia conventions. Also, please note that others may edit this text as well, to make it encyclopedic and in line with Wikipedia standards... releasing this text allows anyone to edit it, not just you, so it may be altered to where it doesn't even look like the released text anyway. However, the content herein would definitely be a start. Thank you for contacting me regarding this matter. --Kinu t/c 19:43, 1 January 2008 (UTC)

  • I have this NPOV tag in the page... Everything seems all right with the page, it talks about a dispute... can I delete this or admins should do that?

Let me know please, thanx you :)

[edit] Cleanup tags

At the moment this article reads like a puff piece for the band... very few third (if any) third-party references, the biographies are very gushing and non-neutral ("great", "amazing", etc.). The end result is that the tone is, quite frankly, unencyclopedic, which is unsurprising because this content is copied directly from the band's website and thus will, by nature, discuss the band from their own point of view. All of this needs to be addressed. Finally, the wikify tag refers to the format of the article; the manual of style discusses how an article should ideally look. Obviously other editors will be happy to help with any and all of these areas. --Kinu t/c 19:38, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

I have further tagged the article as possibly not meeting the notability guidelines for bands set at WP:MUSIC. In the article's current state, I don't see anything that meets these guidelines. dissolvetalk 20:35, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
