Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems

Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems, LLC is one of the companies that provide cellular telephone service under the AT&T Mobility brand. It was created in 1984 as Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems, Inc. as a split-off of Advanced Mobile Phone Service, the original wireless subsidiary of the Bell System. It was held by Southwestern Bell Corporation.
Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems did business under the Cellular One brand name until 2000.
It continued to operate as Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems until 2000, when SBC Communications and BellSouth combined their wireless operations into a single company, Cingular Wireless. When AT&T acquired BellSouth, Cingular became AT&T Mobility. SBMS continues to operate as an AT&T Mobility subsidiary as Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems, LLC. d/b/a Cingular Wireless.
