Southside High School (Bee Branch, Arkansas)

South Side High School is a school in Bee Branch, Arkansas. South Side has about 530 students enrolled and is preschool through twelfth grade. Making it one of smalled single A schools in the state of Arkansas after the consolidations that recently took place.

The athletics department consists of basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and track and field. Along with one of the smallest bands in the region. On May 11th of 2007 the South Side baseball team won the single A State Championship against Trinity Christian of Texarkana by mercy rule. In four years the South Side Hornets had compiled a 126-8 record. The senior high girls track and field team won district and placed as runner-up at 1A State.

Their Senior Quiz Bowl program has also been very successful, placing 3rd in single A State Championship in 2008 with an undefeated record against public schools. Along with winning against many five to six A schools in the Senior Beta Quiz Bowl Competition. The starters consisted of three seniors who all were granted full tuition scholarships for their outstanding grades and ACT scores to many of the top Colleges and Universities in Arkansas. The caption of the Quiz Bowl team is Sophomore who has placed first in the Senior Beta State Spelling Competition and will compete at Nationals this June. The Junior High Quiz Bowl team is also outstanding for considering the size, placing 3rd in the region.

South Side has become recognized state wide in Arkansas for compiling many championships in both Academics and Athletics consistently, which normally is rare for a small public school.

South Side was established in 1934. In the spring of 1989 over three fourths of the school was damaged or destroyed by an F2 tornado. But, has grown back stronger then ever.
