From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Southern Power District is a publicly owned electric distribution system providing electricity and related services to customers in south-central Nebraska. It is part of the Nebraska Public Power District and recently acquired 975 acres (3.95 kmĀ²) of land in the former Cornhusker Army Ammunition Plant just west of Grand Island for a new "Energy Park". In addition to this land, approximately 1,500 adjacent acres have been reserved for a potential 400-megawatt coal-fired power plant.
