The Southern Michigan Timberwolves American football club is a Mid Continental Football League team based in Monroe, Michigan.
[edit] Franchise History
The team was formed in 1994 and had immediate success on the field. However, the team was in financial turmoil. After nearly folding in 1995, the team was purchased by local business man, Tim Lake who then turned the team over to a Board of Directors and made the team a not-for-profit organization. Lake served as the team's General Manager until the end of 2000 when former player Scott Beard was brought on board as the new GM. The Timberwolves have won three MCFL Championships and one Midwest tournament title.
In 2006, Scott Beard and the Board of Directors filed and were approved as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
In 2007, the Timberwolves expanded their role in organized sports by sponsoring a girls 16U basketball team that placed second in the fall state tournament.
