The Southern Leaf-tailed Gecko (Saltuarius swaini) is a common gecko found in forests north of Sydney. It grows up to 15cm long, though larger specimens have been found. It has a dark brown/greyish color, finely patterned with black and buff.
When stationary it appears to be part of the tree that it rests on when hiding from predators, if this disguise does not work, it'll drop it's tail to confuse the predator as all geckos do, the tail will eventually grow back.
