The Southern Illinois Miners are a minor league baseball team based in Marion, Illinois. The team is a member of the independent Frontier League, and is not associated with any Major League Baseball club. Players are able to sign with MLB organizations throughout the Frontier League season.

The team plays at Rent One Park and began its inaugural season in 2007. The games are broadcast on 97.7 The Bear. The Miners set a new Frontier League attendance record in 2007 by hosting 259,392 fans (the prior record was 217,500 set by the Gateway Grizzlies in 2004). They also became the first team in Frontier League history to average over 5,000 fans per game for a season (5,086).

As of January 10th, 3 players have been officially announced to the 2008 roster. Pitchers Jon Bjelland and Nick Starnes were signed on January 9th and 3rd baseman Brandon Jones from the Sioux City Explorers was picked up in a trade left over from July, 2007. According to The Southern Illinoisan, Tim Dorn who left to play for a St Louis Cardinals affiliate team will return for the 2008 season.
