Southern Football League 1894-95

The 1894-95 season was the 1st in the history of the Southern League. The League was divided into two groups called the First and Second Divisions respectively.

[edit] Promotion and relegation

In the first season of the Southern League none of the teams were put forward for election to the Football League nor automatically promoted. Conversely, none of the sides were relegated. However, New Brompton were promoted to Division One as winners of the Southern League Division Two, expanding the First Division to 10 teams. In addition to this four new teams were elected to the Second Division; Wolverton L & NWR, the 1st Scots Guards, Guildford, and Windsor & Eton.
