Southern Downs Regional Council

Southern Downs Regional Council is a proposed Local Government Area in Queensland, Australia. The Local Government Area will be created in March 2008 as a result of the report of the Local Government Reform Commission released in July 2007. The new Council, located in the Darling Downs, will contain the entire area of two existing Local Government Areas;
The report recommends that the new local government area should not be divided into wards and elect eight councillors and a mayor. The Southern Downs Regional Council will cover an area of 7,120 square kilometres (2,749 sq mi), contain an estimated resident population in 2006 of 32,610 and have an estimated operating budget of AUD22.8m.
The Regional Council will cover the city of Warwick and the towns of Allora, Amiens, Applethorpe, Ballandean, Dalveen, Karara, Killarney, Leyburn, Maryvale, Messines, Passchendale, Pozieres, Stanthorpe, Wallangarra, Wyberba and Yangan.
