The SDA is a multi racial political party organized on 1st Feb 2004 and has tried very hard to help Nepalese and other racial minorities in Hong Kong in jobs seeking, legal cases, immigration problems, housing, elderly and education issues.
Its purpose is to "unite the South Asians with local Chinese to build up colorful Hong Kong"(聯合南亞族裔與本土華人齊建繽紛香港). It is a pro-democracy party. Some media have referred to the Alliance as the "Rising Sun of South Asians in the city".
The SDA has also tried its best to promote racial harmony in the city. Since its establishment, the SDA has invited reporters, university lecturers, students, legislators, district councilors, government officials to visit Nepalese and other racial minorities, to know more about their lives in Hong Kong.
Since 2004, the SDA has tried its best, with other local groups, to ask the government to enforce the Law of anti-racial discrimination as soon as possible. Now, the Law enforcement of anti-racial discrimination is coming to the final stage.
