Southeast African Centered High School, also referred to as Southeast High School is a comprehensive high school in the same building as Manual Career & Technical Center - Main Campus, located at 1215 East Truman Road in Kansas City, Missouri. It is part of the Kansas City, Missouri School District. It was previously located at 3500 East Meyer Boulevard in the 2006-2007 school year.

Southeast High School was founded in 1997 at 3500 East Meyer Boulevard, which, is currently the Afrikan Centered Education Collegium Campus. The school was established as a means to reconnect the African traditions of the past. The school mascot is The Black Knight.

[edit] Downfall and Violence

According to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Southeast High has a history of poor graduation rates, as low as 49.8% in 2001 and as high as 66% in 2000.

The Kansas City Police Department reports that it has responded to more than 800 incidents at the school between 2000-2005. Police have responded to incidents ranging from fires, bomb threats, assaults and sexual offenses. Two rapes were reported during the 2004-2005 school year. On April 8, 2005, four fires were intentionally set within the school on the same day students were supposed to take state assessment tests which resulted in the arrest of five students, two forced evacuations and a routine evacuation before class was closed for the day.
