Southcott was a five piece pop-punk band from Rockland County, NY who released their album, Flee The Scene, on Less Avenged Records / Rust Records, receiving national distribution through Universal Records.
Formed in late 2001, Southcott formed when founding members Barry Walsh, Mike Bateman and John Damiano, recruited former Envy Of Your Friends member, Chris Pennings, as their bassist, who would eventually become their lead singer. Their debut EP, The Lost Art of Saying Goodbye, debuted in 2003 on New Jersey indie label Rock Out Records and contained the song Absolut, which attracted them small notoriety and created a buzz about them around the then-thriving New York/New Jersey rock scene.
After extensive touring and a few lineup changes, they signed to Seattle’s Less Avenged Records in the July 2005, and eventually signed to the Cleveland based Universal imprint, Rust Records, in December of 2005. Their full length album, Flee The Scene, was a jointly released album between Rust and Less Avenged and helped them to secure a small fanbase and following across the country.
Through their run which last several years, they toured with bands like Adelphi, The Drama Summer, Ellison, Faulter, Just Surrender, Red Lipstick Letter, Rookie of the Year, Self Against City, Houston Calls, The Track Record, and Upper Class Trash, Gym Class Heroes with several stints on the Vans Warped Tour.
They broke up in early 2007 after their final tour with Madison and Self Against City.
Immediately after the break-up, Mike Sullivan and Mike Bateman went on to form Six Speaker City with former Southcott member Brett Van Cott while Chris Pennings and John Damiano formed Thieves & Villains with the former vocalist of Always Rushing By.
