Southbank tram depot, Melbourne

Southbank Tram Depot is located in Southbank, a suburb of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia.
It is one of 8 depots operated in the Yarra Trams network. The depot was opened in March, 1997, replacing the now-demolished South Melbourne Tram Depot.

The main yard has 9 roads, 2 of these inside a maintenance shed. There are also 2 stabling roads for the 3 restaurant cars, which also operate from this depot. Two entrances exist - namely East Gate and West Gate.
[edit] Trams Based At This Depot
Southbank Depot hosts a variety of trams, including 27 W-Class trams, 5 A-Class trams, 6 B-Class trams, 7 C-Class trams and 17 D2-Class trams, a total of 61. Servicing of Z3-Class trams from other depots is performed at Southbank, however these trams are never used on Southbank routes.

- Route 30 - Docklands to St. Vincent's Plaza
- Route 31/43 - Collins St West to St. Vincent's Plaza/East Melbourne
- Route 35 - City Circle
- Route 96 - St Kilda Beach to East Brunswick (runs along former St Kilda Railway line)
- Route 109 - Port Melbourne to Box Hill (shared with Kew Tram Depot) (runs along former Port Melbourne Railway line)
- Route 112 - St Kilda/South Melbourne Beach to West Preston (shared with East Preson Depot)
- Numerous football, cricket, concert or other special event services which run as required.
The depot is also home to Tram Attendants and Revenue Protection Officers
