[edit] New Campus
In 2004 citizens in DeSoto County voted to pass a school bond proposal worth $115 million to help expand or replace some of the county's aging schools [1]. Southaven High School was one of two high schools that was replaced with a new facility (the other being Horn Lake High). Ground was broken during the summer of 2005 on a plot of land directly east of the original school. The facility was completed fall of 2006, but was not opened until January of 2007, since school had started when it was finished. The old facility is currently undergoing the process to be come the middle school, serving sixth-eighth graders, while the old middle school will become a intermediate school serving third-fifth graders.
