South Yorkshire Scout County (The Scout Association)

Scouting in South Yorkshire is a part of the Scout Association in the United Kingdom. It is a Scout Area that includes Sheffield, Barnsley, Rotherham and Doncaster. The County Commissioner is Stephen Clapham.

The County is divided into 10 Scout Districts:-

  • Sheffield Rivelin
  • Sheffield Porter
  • Sheffield Sheaf
  • Sheffield Norfolk
  • Sheffield Don
  • Barnsley Pennine
  • Barnsley Central
  • Barnsley Fitzwilliam
  • Rotherham
  • Doncaster Danum

Doncaster Danum is the largest District in the County with 30 Scout Groups

The Doncaster Danum District has a Scout Band.

SGS Outdoors is a Scout Shop in Sheffield. There is also a Scout Shop in Doncaster with online access.

The County has five camp sites:-

  • Hesley Wood Scout Activity Centre, Chapeltown, Sheffield.
  • Silverwood Campsite, Great Falls, Silkstone, Barnsley.
  • Squirrel Wood Campsite, Burghwallis, Doncaster.
  • Hundall Campsite, Sheffield nr Ridgeway

Hesley Wood is used for Wood Badge and other Adult Leader Training.
