South Wolds Comprehensive School is a secondary school located on Church Drive in Keyworth, Nottingham. It teaches students ages 11-18, and is non-denominational. It was opened in 1967, and has an enrollment of about a thousand students. South Wolds Comprehensive School received the Career Mark award on July 13, 2004.
The school uniform consists of a white collared shirt, a navy blue sweatshirt, and navy blue or black trousers or a skirt. Since original publication of this article a new uniform has been introduced, it is a Royal Blue blazer, a tie and long sleeve shirts, there is also an optional v-neck jumper that has been made available, the schools new unform was introduced in 2005, currently years 7, 8 and 9 and all newcomers to the school also have to wear the new unform, eventually the whole school form years 7-11 will have to wear the blazer, though there is talk of a separate uniform for the year 11.
The school is a specialist language college, and, due to large grants from the government, has refurbished its entire language department, offering French, German, Spanish and, for more gifted students, there is also Japanese, with links to a school in Nagano, Japan. Further improvements due to the specialist college is a new ICT language suite.
The South Wolds Sixth form is well regarded as one of the best in the area, partially due to its ties to Europe, Asia and America, but also because of the tremendous school ethos among staff and students alike. The new "Number 6" coffee shop offers sixth form students far more independence from the rest of the school and gives a continental flavour to the common room.
The school also participates in many extra-curricular activities, both sporting and arts related. Music events such as "Rock for Kadzinuni" are frequently held raising money for charities or in-school appeals.
South Wolds Comprehensive School's partner school is Daiichi Senior High School.
