South West Institute of TAFE
South West Institute of TAFE is Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Institute located in the south west of the State of Victoria in Australia.
It is the largest provider of vocational education and training in south-west Victoria.
South West Institute of TAFE works in collaboration with industry and regional communities to provide relevant, flexible and practical learning options, and offers a rich variety of opportunities and experience.
Students benefit from strong engagement with industry, which enables them to develop skills and knowledge that align with current workplace needs and practices.
South West Institute of TAFE's main campus is located in Warrnambool. The Institute also has campuses at Glenormiston (Glenormiston College), Hamilton, Portland and Sherwood Park (East Warrnambool). The Institute offers training at a wide range of locations and industries throughout south-west Victoria.
History
South West Institute of TAFE came into existence as a multi-campus institution in 1987, when the TAFE operations of the Hamilton and Portland Technical Schools were combined with the Warrnambool College of TAFE. Known then as the South West College of TAFE, the college was renamed in 1995 to become the South West Institute of TAFE.
Since 2006, the Institute has managed Glenormiston College and assumes further regional responsibilities for training in agriculture, and farm and horse management.
