South West Scotland Region (The Scout Association)

The South West Scotland Region is one of eight new regions of the Scout Association in Scotland, United Kingdom. It was formed on 1 April, 2008, by amalgamating the three previous Scout Areas of Ayrshire, Dumfriesshire and Galloway.[1]

At the time of the amalgamation, the three previous Areas contained the following Scout Districts.

[edit] Kyle and Carrick District

Kyle and Carrick District was formed in 2006 from Kyle District and Carrick District. The District Commissioner is Eric Johns.

[edit] North Ayrshire and Arran District

North Ayrshire and Arran District was formed in 2006 from Cunninghame North, Cunninghame South and Isle of Arran Districts. The District Commissioner is Stewart Durham.

[edit] Ayrshire East District

Ayrshire East District was formed in 2006 from Kilmarnock & Loudoun and Kylesmuir Districts. The District Commissioner is Jack Leishman.

The District Scout Network unit started in February, 2009.[2]

The District Commissioner is Drew Young.

The District Commissioner is Jean Hawes.

[edit] Camp Sites

Culzean Camp Site, previously the Ayrshire Area Camp Site, is located 12 miles south west of Ayr within the Culzean Country Park, owned by the National Trust for Scotland.[3]
