South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy, also known as 'BETA', part of the South Texas Independent School District, in Edinburg, Texas, United States.
The school was founded in 1993 as the Teacher Academy of South Texas, but was renamed South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy in 2003. The school serves as an alternative to larger high schools of local independent school districts for students interested in pursuing careers in Business, Education, and Technology. BETA has notable partnerships with Ford Motor Company, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas-Pan American, Stephen F. Austin University, South Texas College and Texas A&M University.
The Teacher Academy's first class graduated in 1998.
BETA's first class graduated in 2003.
In 2007-2008 School year there will be many new changes. Renovation of the Albert Hughes building. Music and Theatre Arts programs rooms to be held inside the Albert Hughes building. A new gym for the junior High & an addition to the Jr High to make it bigger. (To be separated from BETA in the 2008-2009 School year, and to be named "South Texas Preparatory Academy".)
As of the 2005-06 school year, the school had an enrollment of 737 students and 53.2 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student-teacher ratio of 13.9.[1]

In its November 30, 2007, U.S. News & World Report ranked BETA at number 54 on its list of America's Best High Schools. BETA's sister schools; The Science Academy of South Texas (Sci Tech) came in at 23rd place, and South Texas High School for Health Professions (Med High) was ranked 64th.[2]
