South Point Local School district

The school is located on the most southern point of Ohio. The school district is known as the South Point Pointers. The pointer dog is the mascot. The school colors are blue and gold. The sports activities are cordinated into the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC). There are a total of four schools in the district: two elementary schools, a middle school, and a high school. The elementary schools are South Point Elementary (SPE)and Burlington Elementary (BE). The students from the two elementary schools are joined together in South Point Middle School(SPMS). They remain joined through South Point High School(SPHS).

The original high school building was built 80 some years ago. About 20 some years ago, a new high school was built. The middle school was then moved into the old high school. Throughout years later, several bond levies had been introduced, but they were all turned down. Aout four or five years ago, a bond levy was introduced that the communtity was happy with. That plan has been and still is being put into action. In December of 2007, the middle school and high school moved into a new school building. Both schools are combined into one building, but separated by with a few shared spaces in the middle. The only shared spaces are the Cafetorium (cross between a cafeteria and an auditorium), the music room, the band room, and the elevator. There are also other ways to access the other school, such as, through the office, libraries, conference rooms, etc.
