South Limestone Island

South Limestone Island in an island in Georgian Bay, Ontario, Canada

It is a very unusual island in many respects, for its geography is quite different that that which is typical of the thirty thousand island chain. The south Limestone is, as its name reflects, made completely of limestone, and displays a flat terrain inhabited by low vegetation, which is reputably much more friendly that its sister island, the north limestone, which is infested with poison ivy.

The south limestone island is most reputably known for being host to thousands of birds, the majority of which consist of seagulls and common terns, although there have been several unconfirmed reports of something larger living on the island, possibly an erratic albatross.
