South Hylton is a village in Sunderland on the south bank of the River Wear. A small village, South Hylton only has one access road, and is a single track terminus for the Tyne and Wear Metro.

South Hylton has a well-documented history and is researched by the South Hylton Local History Society, who regularly hold meetings in the South Hylton Community Centre.
