South Hills is a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. It is located in Region 9.South Hills is a suburb of Johannesburg that is mainly home to poor and middle class families. Local residents of South Hills refer to South Hills as "Storks", which is a mock name referring to all the unplanned pregnancies that occur there from time to time. The name "Storks" is derived from the word Stork that refer to the myth of the bird called a Stork that delivers babies. A popular saying in South Hills "She's got one in her tummy, one in her arms and one in the pram". South Hills also has four schools namely Montanus Primary School (formerly Suidrand laerskool), Suid heuwels laerskool, South Hills Primary school and Diversity High school (formerly J.G. Strijdom Hoerskool). South Hills also consist of numerous old council houses.
