The South East Showband is situated in Mt Gambier, and is comprised of members from local and surrounding primary schools and high schools in the area. In 2007 the showband decided to form two bands, South East Showband 1 and South East Showband 2. Showband 2 was created for younger instrumentalists in the area as a feeder band into Showband 1. Throughout the year both bands participate in Generations In Jazz, which is held locally in Mt Gambier, and in the Melbourne School bands Festival.
