South Brunswick Public Schools

The South Brunswick Public Schools are a comprehensive community public school district, serving students in kindergarten through twelfth grade from South Brunswick Township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States.

As the township has grown in recent years, so has the school district. In 1991, the district’s enrollment was just under 4,000 students. As of January 20, 2006, the district had 8,808 students enrolled in the district’s schools, including seven elementary schools for 4,210 students in Grades K-5, two middle schools for 2,062 students in Grades 6-8 and a high school for 2,536 students in Grades 9-12.

Five of the district's schools have received the Blue Ribbon Award from the United States Department of Education, the highest honor that an American school can achieve: South Brunswick High School (1990-91), Greenbrook School (1991-92), Crossroads Middle School (1992-93), Cambridge Elementary School (1996-97), Constable Elementary School (2000-01).[1]

Five of South Brunswick's schools have been named as a "Star School" by the New Jersey Department of Education, the highest honor that a New Jersey school can achieve:

  • Cambridge Elementary School in the 1993-94 school year[2],
  • Dayton Elementary School in the 1993-94 school year[3],
  • Indian Fields Elementary School in the 1993-94 school year[4],
  • Monmouth Junction Elementary School in the 1998-99 school year[5], and
  • South Brunswick High School in the 2000-01 school year[6]
