South Ataria

Is a fictional island and Macross City of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, which the surviving battleship of the Supervision Army crash landed. Upon its discovery by the authorities, the UN Spacey contracted engineers and scientists to reverse engineer and develop technologies based on the ship. For the next ten years, South Ataria would evolve into a city devoting all their resources into the restoration of the Supervision Army battleship and renaming it as the "Macross."

During the Zentradi's first assault, South Ataria was attacked. The Macross activated its fold system and the size of the enveloping space fold transported all of South Ataria into space. Because the citizens were in emergency shelters at the time, they were safe from the vacuum of space and eventually all that was South Ataria was incorporated into the Macross. The mayor and the surviving citizens of South Ataria would live inside the Macross for a period of time. Because the authorities couldn't explain for South Ataria's disappearance, the UN Spacey created false news. They claimed all inhabitants of South Ataria were destroyed by terrorists. After the Macross and citizens of South Ataria returned to Earth, the UN Spacey denied them access to the rest of the world and forced to remain in the Macross. People were outraged at first, but with the comforting words of Lynn Minmay, the people come to realize their home has always been part of the Macross and accepted their exile from the rest of the world.

After Earth's inhabitants were vaporized by the Zentradi armada, the Macross landed where there was still water and built "Macross City," using parts of South Ataria they salvaged during the attack. The greatest survivor of the Zentradi encounter would be South Ataria and its citizens as they survived and help spread humanity throughout the stars.
