South African Astronomical Observatory

The South African Astronomical Observatory or SAAO is the national centre for optical and infrared astronomy in South Africa. It is run by South Africa's National Research Foundation.

Its headquarters is in the suburb of Observatory in Cape Town, while its primary telescopes are located at its observatory in Sutherland at 32°22′46″S 20°48′38.5″E / -32.37944, 20.810694 (Sutherland).
