Sound Fuzion

Sound Fuzion is a touring ensemble of nine vocalists and five instrumentalists, which represents the University of Memphis at public school concerts, corporate functions, University sponsored activities in addition to performing as part of the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music's annual concert season.

The ensemble performs many different styles of popular music from the 1950s to the present, including pop, rock, rhythm & blues, jazz, alternative, and country. Sound Fuzion is well known for its professional and dynamic style and has performed with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra on three occasions to standing room only crowds. The group tours regionally every year and made its international debut in 2005 in China.

A former member of the ensemble, Lashundra Trenyce Cobbins, appeared as Trenyce in the second season of American Idol in 2003, finishing as a finalist in fifth place.

Member Clay Crosse was the New Artist of the Year (Dove Award) for 1995.

Sound Fuzion is co-directed by Dr. Lawrence Edwards and Professor Jon Frazer.
