Soulside Journey is the debut album by the Norwegian black metal band Darkthrone.
It is notable as being their first and only death metal release before becoming an integral part of the Norwegian black metal scene.
Oddly enough, Fenriz went by the moniker "Hank Amarillo". Later pressings of the albums show all of the band's pseudonyms rather than their real names.
Darkthrone are unique among death metal because of the absence of palm muting in any of the riffs; all of the songs are made up of fast tremolo and open notes which are far more prevalent among black metal bands.
