Soul Solution is a house music remix team comprising Bobby Guy Graziose, a keyboardist/ lead programmer and Ernie Lake, a drummer and recording engineer, who worked together during the 1990s.
They remixed pop songs such as Toni Braxton's "Un-Break My Heart" and Shania Twain's "You're Still the One" into dance club hits. Guy and Lake also wrote songs, played instruments and produced entire records from scratch. They remixed artists such as Backstreet Boys, Tina Turner, Aaliyah, Celine Dion and Whitney Houston. Their first break came as producers of the artist Pulse for the song "The Lover That You Are" that became a huge hit in the international club scene. Pulse was released on Jellybean Recordings owned by popular 70's DJ and publishing mogul Jellybean Benitez.
Guy and Lake also owned and operated a recording studio and production company, Reel Tyme Productions, in Manhattan's Film Center building. It was at that studio that they produced some of dance music's most commercially successful remixes. Guy and Lake were subsequently nominated for 2 consecutive Grammy awards in 1999 and 2000 but never took home the statue. However, their success did have a tremendous impact on the dance music industry, opening the door for many remixer's attempts and a few successes, crossing dance music over to mainstream.
Bobby Guy and Ernie Lake were featured in many industry magazines including Mix Magazine, DMA, and Keyboard Magazine. They were frequently mentioned in Billboard Magazine and many of their recordings charted in Billboard as well.
In early 2000 Soul Solution split discreetly and Guy and Lake never subsequently worked together under the Soul Solution name. One of their last remixes was of Backstreet Boys' "Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely". Lake did some remixes on his own and still is involved with dance music. Guy still performs live touring with legendary pop star Tommy James and the Shondells and is now in his 11th season as their keyboardist and background vocalist.
Bobby Guy Graziose, who was the primary programmer and technologist of the duo and went on to found a digital distribution company called FirstSpin and has since worked extensively in the technology industry as a Business Development Director. FirstSpin's software delivers music and advertising to over 10,000 radio stations.
Bobby is currently Director of the EarthCam Network at EarthCam Inc., an IP/Network camera technology and services company. Ernie Lake is currently the Founder of EL Records, a non traditional compilation record label and music styling company. EL Records works and creates music programs for some of the leading hotels and casinos around the globe. www.elrecords.com
