Soul Power and Sparky
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Soul Power' and Sparky (voiced by Brock Peters and Rodney Saulsberry, respectively) are a duo of super heroes, in the cartoon Static Shock (2000-2004).
[edit] History
Inspired by the super hero Black Lightning, Soul Power is a former hero with powers similar to those of Static Shock. He currently lives in an institution for the elderly, but in the 60s he defended Dakota against criminals. He gained his powers in an accident at the Hoover Dam hydro electric plant, gaining "the power of ten turbines". His secret headquarters was the Power Pad (similar to Batcave), and he had a car called Soulmobile (imitating the Batmobile). He, his young sidekick (Sparky - who resembles Robin) and Static Shock fought and defeated Professor Menace, forming a great team. Sparky was Soul Power's sidekick in the 60's and today is a respected meteorologist. He has no special powers, instead as a fan of Soul Power he designed and built a suit that gave him similar powers.
[edit] Trivia
In the only episode featuring Soul Power and Sparky (called Blast from the Plast), Richie Foley/Gear is not present (the only episode of the show in which Gear does not appear), nor is mentioned. It is believed that this episode is situated between the double episode A League of Their Own, in which Brainiac (enemy of the Justice League) is controlling Gear's mind.
