Soul Assassins

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Soul Assassins are a loose collective of musicians and graphic artists affiliated to the hip hop group Cypress Hill, formed in the early 90s. It is also the name of Cypress Hill's publishing company.

In 1997 and 2000 two albums under the name Soul Assassins were released. Both albums featured an army of rappers and both were almost entirely produced by Cypress Hill's beatsmith DJ Muggs, with minor contributions by The Alchemist (three songs) and DJ Khalil (one song) on the second volume. A third volume, tentatively titled "Khreased Khakis" is in the making and was announced to be released in 2007 or 2008 on DJ Muggs' label Angeles Records.

One-time members were House of Pain (Everlast, DJ Lethal and Danny Boy). After the release of House of Pain's second album in 1994 a feud erupted between them and Cypress Hill. By the time Everlast has launched his solo career he rejoined the Soul Assassins.
