[edit] History

The tour was officially announced on both singers' websites on February 4, 2007. The tour was the follow-up to the couple's highly successful Soul2Soul II Tour 2006, which became the highest grossing country tour of all time, #12 all genre tour of all time, with a total gross of $88.6 million.

Soul2Soul 2007 featured some of the highlight performances from the 2006 tour as well as new music along with new production and some other surprises. A new sponsor was also expected for the 2007 tour.

Complete tour details were announced on March 7, 2007 on both singers' websites. The press release stated: It was the hottest concert event of the year. Selected as Pollstar Magazine’s “Major Tour of 2006” over industry powerhouses including Madonna and The Rolling Stones, it set all-time sales marks and broke box office records across the United States. It was and is, the best-selling concert tour that country music has ever seen. The tickets went fast, with most of the concert dates selling out in a matter of hours, some in minutes. And now, due to the overwhelming demand from fans that didn’t get their chance to witness history in the making and for fans hungry to be a part of the experience yet again, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are back.

McGraw and Hill played forty-three shows over a nine-week period, with the Jeep brand as the title sponsor, "Jeep Presents Soul2Soul Tour 2007." The tour featured the first-ever performances throughout Canada.

“The crowds for every show on Soul2Soul II were out of control – they rocked,” said Tim and Faith in a joint statement. “To know that we’re able to do this again is a great feeling, but we’ll have more to live up to this time. There’ll be some new songs, along with the best of ‘Soul2Soul II,’ to make ‘Soul2Soul Tour 2007’ an even better experience.”

The “Jeep Presents Soul2Soul Tour 2007” itinerary featured two very special performances, miles from Star, Mississippi and Start, Louisiana, where Tim and Faith grew up. The concerts, to take place in Lafayette, Louisiana and Biloxi, Mississippi, were specifically requested by Tim and Faith. In addition, “Jeep Presents Soul2Soul Tour 2007” will feature first time visits to Omaha, as well as the Canadian cities of Vancouver, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Ottawa.

“Jeep Presents Soul2Soul Tour 2007” played in the round, a configuration that worked to perfection in 2006, giving each and every ticket-holder a great seat. The award-winning production, the latest in visual technologies, highly advanced visual state of the art lighting design and staging again was featured, although some changes were planned.

On March 14, 2007, Tim McGraw announced on an appearance on Good Morning America that the Soul2Soul 2007 Tour will probably be the last time he and Hill will tour together.

On March 16, 2007, the same day tickets went on sale for the performances in Canada, both of the singers websites announced that additional shows had been added in select Canadian cities due to overwhelming ticket sales and it had been announced that the June 21 show in Saskatoon and the June 22 show in Winnipeg were record breaking sales.[1]

The tour kicked off June 5 in Omaha to excellent reviews. The couple start the show with Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars, which has so far got incredible reviews. As in the previous tours, Faith performs first. New songs in her set include "Wild One," "The Secret of Life" and "Lost." Then Faith and Tim perform two songs together and then Tim performs his set which includes song,s that he hasn't performed in years including "Indian Outlaw," "Everywhere" and "She's My Kind of Rain." It was a big shock to all fans that Tim however did not sing "Don't Take The Girl," one of his biggest hits. Tim and Faith conclude the show with four songs including a cover of the Bryan Adams and Tina Turner duet "It's Only Love" and their best known duet "It's Your Love." The opening acts on the tour perform for about 30-minutes, when all is said and done, the show lasts 3 hours, sometimes a little longer.

The Soul2Soul 2007 tour set records in its first week for attendance and gross for the tour's first week out. Nearly 50,000 fans attended the first three shows. The tour also established a new record gross during both its two-day stop in Omaha and single day in St. Paul, Minn. for a single country show, according the Xcel Energy Center.

At various pre-show parties, McGraw and Hill have been asked if there was going to be a DVD made of this tour and McGraw confirmed it is a project they are working on, however no release date is set. According to fan reports, it is believed the July 21 Atlanta show might be the show they filmed for the DVD due to the presence of more cameramen then usual.

[edit] Lafayette Concert Incident

At the July 28 show in Lafayette, Louisiana, at the close of Tim McGraw's set, a female fan reached out and grabbed McGraw's nether regions. When Hill and McGraw returned for the encore, during their performance of "It's Only Love," Hill blasted the fan, waving her finger and saying into the microphone: "Somebody needs to teach you some class, my friend. You don't go grabbin' somebody else's, somebody's husband's [privates], you understand me? That's very disrespectful!" [2] At the same concert, at the beginning of McGraw's set during "Last Dollar," McGraw's ring slipped off his pinky finger and he falsely accused a female fan of taking it. McGraw asked repeatedly into the microhpone to have his ring back. Security had to come over and retrieve it for him.
