- A high-speed chase in the waters off Tuas resulted in the deaths of two Police Coast Guard officers, when an Interceptor Craft with four officers on board and a speedboat with six illegal immigrants collided during a high-speed chase and both crafts capsized. The speedboat has earlier intruded into Singapore's territorial waters, and were pursued by two police crafts. Two of the policemen were rescued by the second police craft minutes later, while another two officers were missing and their bodies found about 12 hours later on 14 April 2007 at about 8.15 AM. Three of the illegal immigrants were also rescued, one was found dead, and another two still missing. Both officers were promoted posthumously, and were the first PCG officers to die as a result of a high-speed chase since the unit's formation. (CNA) (SPF)
