Sota Higurashi (日暮 草太 Higurashi Sōta?), also romanized as Souta, is a character in the manga and anime series InuYasha.
[edit] Overview
Sota is the younger brother of Kagome, and is a third grade student. He is jealous of her adventures in the Sengoku Jidai, but Kagome claims it is too dangerous for him to accompany her. He once tried to go through the well but had no success.
[edit] Relationships
- Kagome
- Sota seems to be very close to Kagome. He helps Kagome keep up with her studies, reminds her of tests, gathers notes from her classmates and even speaks to her teachers for her. Sota sees Kagome as a well respected sister (Since they share a close bond with each other and are rarely seen fighting) and hopes one day to be able to go, to the other world with her.
- InuYasha
- Sota sees InuYasha as an elder brother and a role model (due to his father being deceased), and loves spending time with InuYasha while he is in the modern era. Sota even calls Inuyasha "Inu onii-chan" (犬の兄ちゃん, dog brother). When Kagome comes back to the modern era after fighting with InuYasha, Sota often tries to help them reconcile. In the anime, Inuyasha tries being a mentor to Sota by giving him advice on how to ask Hitomi out.
- Sota and InuYasha seem to be getting closer, as once he and InuYasha even took a bath together; the deal being that Sota will wash InuYasha's back if he does the same for him. This ended with InuYasha running out of the bath tub naked (because he felt that the water was too hot) with Sota and landed in front of horrified Kagome.[2]
[edit] Notes and references
- ^ Revealed in the InuYasha character guide, Zusetsutaizen Ougikaiden by Rumiko Takahashi.
- ^ Note: Despite what many fans consider to be a display of homosexuality, in Japanese culture it is considered perfectly acceptable to give a child a bath in such a way, though it is usually done by family, further proving the two character's growing closeness.
