Sorkwity

Sorkwity (formerly Sorquitten) – village in Poland, located in the Mragowo County in Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. It is the seat of Gmina Sorkwity. Population of Sorkwity is 770 people.

Sorkwity was founded in 1379 by the Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights, Winrich von Kniprode. Since then, the village had many different owners. In 1804, the von Mirbach family acquired Sorkwity. The family build a neogothic palace in the village between 1850 and 1956.
