Soraya is an American dancer, specialising in Egyptian-style belly dance.
Soraya is a US citizen of Syrian descent specializing in Egyptian-style belly dance. Soraya was born in 1975 in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Her parents often brought baby Soraya to the popular 'Olympic Flame' Greek restaurant, where she developed a taste for the exotic music and culture. At four years old Soraya was invited on stage and performed in front of the packed club. She continued dancing through college and graduated in 1997 from Richard Stockton State College with a degree in Anthropology. After graduation she continued dancing. She has appeared in Italian Vogue, Shape, Health and Fitness, many newspapers and has written many articles for belly dance magazines. In 1993 she was invited to Morocco to perform for King Hassan. She made a tour of India's five-star hotels with favorable reviews. She has been a guest performer for singers Amr Diab, Ragheb Alameh, Wadi El Safi, George Wassouf, Warda Al-Jazairia, Assi El Hellani, Kazem Al Saher, and Nawal Al Zoghbi. She is the premier belly dancer at many Atlantic City Casinos and performed for the opening of the King Tut Exhibit in Philadelphia in 2007.
