Sorryworld1.jpg (400 × 300 pixels, file size: 25 KB, MIME type: image/jpeg)
Self-taken photo by James Zetlen, from the Sorry Everybody website. Photo taken in the photographer's home in Los Angeles, California on November 3, 2004, just after the 2004 U.S. presidential election (which had been held a day earlier, on November 2, 2004).
The photo, by James Zetlen, the creator of the Sorry Everybody website, was the first of its kind and inspired thousands more similar contributions from U.S. citizens, all apologizing to the world in advance for the actions of George W. Bush (who had just been reelected for a second four-year term) over the next four years. Zetlen compiled a gallery of 8,000 of these photos on his website and published a 256-page book containing approximately 1,000 of them, entitled Sorry Everybody: An Apology to the World for the Re-election of George W. Bush.

Hello,
I'm one of the thousands of volunteer editors at the English-language Wikipedia. I just found the page about your website:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sorry_Everybody
I notice that the article does not yet have an image, and wonder whether you might be amenable to releasing a photo under a free license. I'm thinking that it would simply be one of the thousands of photos sent to you (with the consent of the photographer, of course), which you think is the best or most representative one.
Thanks very much for your consideration!
Best,

All the photos we received were in response to the original photo I took of myself, so I suppose you could say mine is the most representative. It's also the one I feel safest sharing!
This email serves as permission from me for Wikipedia to display the attached image, which has been on display on the homepage of sorryeverybody.com. The photo us under no Creative Commons license or any other copyright. Naturally, I indemnify and hold harmless the Wikimedia foundation and all its subordinates and affiliates for any consequences that should occur as the result of Wikipedia displaying this photo!
Hope that helps!
