[edit] BIOGRAPHY

Sophia was born in 1962 in Patras. She grew up in Athens where she studied music. In 1983 she took part in the Song Contest of Thessaloniki where she won the first prize. She started singing in night clubs and she soon released her first record. Sophia, a singer with a spactacular voice, was singing most pop and rock songs. From the mid 90's though, she started singing folk music with minor success. Her latest album was out in 2002, it's title was San Alitissa (Like A Tramp) and it was a total flop.

[edit] TELEVISION

Apart from her musical career, Sophia produced popular shows for the radio. Her bigest hit though, was in television. She was the hostess of a very popular morning show on Mega Channel. She continued her tv career with another morning show on another greek channel, and on 2006 she was one of the teachers in Dream Show on Alpha, a popular talent show. She continues to work for Alpha by co-hosting with her former lover Andreas Mikroutsikos and his current wife, a morning tv show. Apart from that she appeared on stage as a crazy maid, along with her comedian friend Elda Panopoulou. She had also a supporting role on the sitcom Ola stin Taratsa, for Alpha, which did not make it with the rates...

[edit] EUROVISION

In 1991 she and Andreas Mikroutsikos were chosen to represent Greece to the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Anixi (Spring). The song was a major hit in Greece and hit platinum sales. This song along with her composition To Filaraki (The Friend) are considered to be her bigest hits- actually To Filaraki has many covers of other greek singers and Anixi was remixed and re-issued early this year. Nevertheless the duo did not make a good result in the Contest. Though a favourite, the song scored only 36 points and ranked 13th among 22. Still it's one of the most popular greek eurosongs.
