Hello! Thanks for stopping by! This is the Pennsylvania Routes list. As you can see, the list is not yet complete, and when it is, it will be quite a long list. The obvious goal is to have at least one article reach "special status", i.e. an article being nominated for good or featured article. For redirects, a link followed by an arrow and text indicates what article the redirect points to. At some point, this article will list more information to make it easier to start articles.
I am going to leave the list as it is for now; I think we should work on the first 102 articles before we move on to the rest. --myselfalso 19:18, 30 August 2006 (UTC)
See the project completion list for what has been completed for redirects to articles. --myselfalso 22:51, 1 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Duplicate designations
Some route numbers in Pennsylvania are used twice throughout the state. There have been at least four cases of this in the history of the commonwealth, with two cases still existing today. The approach taken to represent these routes on Wikipedia varies by case.
- The earliest case is Pennsylvania Route 47, commissioned in 1927 and decommissioned in 1928. The two segments of the route are now part of other PA routes.
- Approach: Disambiguation page.
- Pennsylvania Route 17 was once a "double route". This ended in 1999 when I-86 usurped the western segment. The eastern segment remains as the lone PA 17.
- Approach: Normal article, with mention of western segment in history.
- Pennsylvania Route 29 was initially a continuous route. In 1966, the route was split into the northern and southern segments that exist today.
- Approach: Originally, an article existed for each segment of PA 29. After a proposal, the articles were merged into "Pennsylvania Route 29", then a disambiguation page. Had they never been connected over its history, the articles would not have been merged.
- Pennsylvania Route 97, like PA 47 before it, is a route existing in two segments that have never been connected. One is in Erie County and the other is in Adams County.
- Approach: Since PA 97 has never been continuous, PA 97 in Erie County is listed as Pennsylvania Route 97 (north) and PA 97 in Adams County is listed as Pennsylvania Route 97 (south). Be mindful that if the routes were once connected, then a single article would be written for PA 97 instead of one for each segment.
Please keep these precedents in mind if a similar situation arises in the future.

Bolded are potential minor routes that will eventually be moved to the minor routes list. It does not mean it will be a minor route, but it probably will be. If you feel there is a route that is minor, go ahead and bold the route.
