Talk:Sonya Thomas
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
She has eaten more hots dogs than any other American woman or man in the history of the contest. She is known as "The Black Widow". Watch out!
It sounds like her husband was a hot dog and she ate him. Can't help it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Toytoy (talk • contribs)

[edit] Contradictory?
Fitness and training regime
- To stay in shape, Sonya has one big meal a day, with lots of green vegetables and fresh fruit, and always avoids junk food
Training and competition notes
- She only eats one very large meal a day, which takes several hours for her to complete. A typical post-work meal for her would be three large orders of fries, a chicken Whopper, 20 chicken tenders, and two 32-ounce diet soft drinks.
Future
- She is unclear how long she will continue eating competitively, but she hopes to own a fast-food franchise one day
Much of this seems to be a little contradictory. violet/riga (t) 22:20, 30 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Age?
This article only has her age and not her birth-date/year. Will she be 37 forever (not that I doubt she wouldn't ? Moreoever, I was looking at the caption of the last picture on the left of this page that reads: "A very poor little 5-year-old "Black Widow," spending Christmas day, 1972, with an American USAF Sergeant--and his wife--stationed in Korea. I wish I could locate them." which implies she was 5 in '72, likely setting her birth year at '67, and so making her 38 or 39. Does anyone have any more detailed biographical information? I found this article (reference #1) to have a lot of good information on how she became a pro eater (I do not have the time to add serious content), but I'd like to see more on her life before moving to the states. Should any of that be available that is.
[edit] Joey Chestnut

[edit] r-r-r-RIDICULOUS!
Poemisaglock 02:41, 26 July 2007 (UTC) "Although Thomas came in third, the silver lining was her domination of Kobayashi on a pound for pound basis: Thomas 56 burgers / 100 lb. = 0.56, Kobayashi 67 burgers / 170 lb. = 0.39." This statement is completely crazy because being skinny is actually an advantage. This is even stated earlier in the article: "Thomas realised a smaller stature was not an impediment to being a world-class eater." According to Competitive eating "Being overweight is not necessarily an advantage. In fact, the "fat belt" theory holds that any excess body fat is a disadvantage in that it prevents the stomach from expanding as much as it otherwise could." In addition, (i may be wrong about this) i don't think that she can be the world record holder for chicken wings with 165 in thirty two minutes because in Joey Chestnut it says that he ate 182 in 30 minutes at Wing Bowl. It also no longer shows that record on her IFOCE profile.
