Talk:Sonic the Hedgehog (American TV and Comic)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] The Character
Before the possibly inevitable fight starts... This article is to talk about what Sonic the character that apears in the Archie comics has done. It seems silly that information about what the Archie Sonic has done just shows up in bits and pieces in other character's articles. At this point there's so many years of history unique to the Archie version of Sonic that he really deserves his own article. Both the DiC and Archie versions could probably be covered here (they were initially the same character, after all), with a little paragraph explaining the differences. [edit] Problems
No offense guys, but this article needs some serious editing. It talks more about the plot of the comics that it does about the character of Sonic himself. All the information about various issues and storyline is unneccessary. Please do your part and help me fix this.
In addition, some son of a biatch scum bag has been vandalizing this article. [[User:Denjo]
[edit] Merge with Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comic)
I think this article is still a tad redundant. While it's true that the character is somewhat different than his game incarnation, such differences can easily be explained by a simple paragraph on the main article for the character, possibly referring the reader to a larger explanation on the main article for the comic. Dirk Amoeba 02:58, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I disagree, strongly. There's about 13 years of monthly (sometimes twice monthly) continuity to the Archie version, often extremely different from the game version, with a unique supporting cast, history, relationships and abilities. A merger would either make for a ridiculously large article or would require lots of cutting. Seriously, it's just plain easier and cleaner this way.D1Puck1T 22:22, 9 August 2006 (UTC)
- I know about the comic's extensive differences, but most of the information in this article is either stated in other articles, or ought to be. Much of the article isn't even about Sonic, but about the rest of the cast. That information should all go on the entry for each character or on the entry for the book. If this article is kept, don't we also need an additional entry for the Fleetway Sonic, whose differences are just as great and has nearly as much continuity as the Archie version? Dirk Amoeba 21:30, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
I won't call for deletion or merging, not knowing enough about the topic at hand, but this is some real nerd shit. Zincomog 16:53, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well we try.D1Puck1T 22:37, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
-
- It's funny how half of wikipedia is made up of articles which would get merged or deleted if someone just took the time to notice them. Oh well. I think this article is just small enough to merit being left alone, plus its got references, and the rest of the cast have pages, too. And seeing how most comic characters have their own articles, no matter how obscure, this article is bulletproof.
-
- But people should be careful not to throw in a lot of descriptive words when covering events. It shouldn't read like a book. Johnnyfog 03:17, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- I think that Sonic the Hedgehog (character) should list all of his personality directly from the games (and those that count, not spin-offs), you people know which they are (Sonic 1-4, Aventure 1-2) and so on)). Then there should be an aditional page about Sonic the Hedgehog personality in spin-offs with different sections for Archie Comics, Fleetway Comics, AoSH, SatAM and Sonic X. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.155.75.254 (talk) 20:24, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
- PS: It may look too cluttered though, I know. Maybe shorten the whole american article to seomething smaller? Last time I checked, Sonic's character article in Sonic the Comic is way smaller then this one (and Sonic the Comic has +200 issues). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.155.75.254 (talk) 20:31, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Resurrection of the merge proposal
I nominating the articles be merged into a Sonic the Hedgehog (comic character) page or somehting of that nature. I am also fully well aware of the size issues currently plauging the (TV series & Archie Comic) page. The naming conventions of both, offer little differentiation between the two superficially, decreasing the level of accessibility. To abbreviate the two detailed plot outlines of the two, from the generous ones already provided would better reflect the greater wiki uses of character bios in fiction. Character such as Superman and Mario, do not have separate character articles for their various representations throughout the various mediums they encompass. In short, to create a central article to bridge the two would help better direct wikipedians to these very detail articles, which would be better substantiated with a tying bind. -66.109.248.114 (talk) 03:47, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] diffirences to the real Sonic (video games)
there should really be on this page ( I dont live in america so I havent read the comic so I cant write it.)
Actually, we shouldn't really say as to whether or not that the Sonic in the games is the real Sonic or not. It might end up leading to some invevitable fighting between comic fans and others. If you ask me, I don't really care about the "real Sonic" kind of situation, but thats just me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Drakonis (talk • contribs) 01:49, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- You're joking right? Games overule spin-offs since they're the continuity that counts. Saying otherwise it's like saying Harry Potter films are more real then the books. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.155.75.254 (talk) 20:26, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Lack of uniformity!
In addition to this article being needlessly long-winded, there is no entry on the SatAM Sonic. We need to include SatAM info on both this page and the Tails article. Johnnyfog 18:00, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, that's done. Now I just need to move the SatAM info to the Tails article, and then we're set. Also, this article needs a lot of trimming down. Johnnyfog 00:42, 22 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Sonic Yardley.jpg
Image:Sonic Yardley.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Oppose merge with Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic the Comic)
Somebody put up a proposal to merge this with Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic the Comic). I'm opposing it and removing the merge tag because these are two completely different continuities, whereas the two that are currently covered here have significant overlap. - furrykef (Talk at me) 20:58, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- Excuse me, you do not have the permission to remove the merge tag until the discussion and vote of the merge proposal is over. If you oppose, vote for oppose in the vote to merge. Dylanlip (talk) 03:46, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sega Project Priority
I'm somewhat confused as to why this page, which is about Sonic the Hedgehog the character, is rated as Low on the priority scale, while Princess Sally is rated Mid on the priority scale. This confuses me. Dylanlip (talk) 03:53, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Construction
Hello. You may know me as the one who completely overhauled the Princess Sally article. I will soon start working on this article as well. I will bring more details on this work soon. Dylanlip (talk) 17:56, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I have started the full construction of the article, and pretty soon I'll start going into fullswing for this project. During some of it, you will probably see some blank sections, or deleted sections. Do not interrupt or revert. This is all part of the project. This article will be probably unusable and under construction for the next couple weeks. Thank you for your cooperation. Dylanlip (talk) 23:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
